Lessons in ePortfolios: I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours

Imitation is the highest form of flattery, right? Well, I am worlds away from being able to imitate the pages I’ve found to be most motivating. I notice some site developers have years of experience and are secure in their tech and presentation knowledge. Others are classmates who have been working on their ePortfolio as long as I have, but have produced some great ePortfolios, so far.

I love the aesthetics of The Tech Blend - ePortfolio which is the ePortfolio of my classmate and small group collaborator, Shaneigh Smith. Creativity, professionalism, and playfulness come through in https://www.learningin3withmrsb.com which is designed by another classmate and small group collaborator, Lauren Blasdel.

I enjoyed https://pedrobeltran.org/?page_id=5215 by ADL Graduate, Pedro Beltran. His page was colorful and inviting. His menu was well organized, and I especially appreciated his accordion or drop down sections as this is a feature I have not yet figured out. I was drawn to Brianna Rodriguez’s https://www.rodriguezb.com/about-9 for the same reasons. Her font, spacing, graphics, and well organized menu helped me see how to better organize my own.

The professional ePortfolio, http://www.lukew.com/ was especially clean in presentation, but rich with content. His home page provides a Table of Contents of sorts and only by digging down to you (easily) find a treasure trove or presentations and topics, along with a timeline of experience that isn’t an actual timeline. His site makes you want to explore further and learn more. He would be someone I’d like to work with and learn from if my career path crossed his at some point.

On the opposite end, I found https://theinnovativeeducator.blogspot.com/ to be a frustrating and chaotic. I like her bio and what she’s passionate about tends to align with my goals and desires for education, but the website overall was not to my taste. I used what I saw more as a learning experience to find what I do not want to do with my own ePortfolio. I also found https://backtoschoolat42.wordpress.com/2017/02/14/my-dll-journey/ to be very scroll heavy. I remember Dr. Harapnuik talking about how we need to avoid this to keep our audience’s attention, and this ePortfolio was a good example of this. I think there was good content, but the organization could have been friendlier.
